Carter Frederick Ham^[2] (born 16 February ) is a retired United States ArmyGeneral Officer who served as the second commander of United States Africa Command.^[3] As commander of Africa Command, he led Operation Odyssey Dawn, the initial United States role in the military intervention in Libya.

Ham served as the commanding general of the United States Army Europe and Seventh Army from 28 August to 8 March Prior to that, he served as Director for Operations (J-3) at the Joint Staff from August to August and the commanding general, 1st Infantry Division from August to August , and was the commander of Operation Able Sentry in Macedonia in the mids, during the Yugoslav wars.

Post-retirement, Ham served as president and CEO of the Association of the United States Army from July to September ^[4]
