1 Chatterjee, Partha ANINDYA BHATTACHARYA Partha Chatterjee is an eminent postcolonial thinker, and a central figure of the subaltern studies collective.

Born in Calcutta (now Kolkata), India, in 1947, he is a graduate from Presidency College, Calcutta, and has a PhD from Rochester University, New York. Chatterjee is professor of anthropology at Columbia University and honorary professor of political science at the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Calcutta.
